Like Magic Is a Charming Handwritten Script Font for Creatives

I was staring at a blank artboard, tasked with refreshing a local bakery’s identity. The owner wanted something that felt warm, handmade, and welcoming. My usual suspects—clean sans-serifs, sturdy serifs—felt too cold for this. I needed a touch of personality. That’s when I opened the new Like Magic font, a cute handwritten script from the Script Amp category.

First Impressions on a Logo Draft

The moment I typed out the bakery’s name, the charm was immediate. Like Magic has a genuine, relaxed cursive flow. It’s not overly formal or rigidly structured; it feels like someone wrote it with a confident, friendly hand. The letters connect with a natural, slightly varied baseline, giving it an authentic organic feel perfect for a brand rooted in craftsmanship. In the logo draft, it instantly softened the whole composition, bringing in that ‘homemade’ vibe the client wanted without looking childish or messy.

On the brand board, I tested it against a simple, rounded sans-serif for secondary information. The pairing worked beautifully. The script provided the emotional hook—the visual flavor—while the supporting sans-serif kept everything legible and grounded. This is where I started to see its role: Like Magic is a fantastic display font for headlines, logos, and accent text. It establishes mood and personality right away.

Testing Across Real Brand Assets

I pushed it further into the project. On a packaging mockup for a pastry box, Like Magic looked delightful as the product name on the label. Its handwritten character suggested care and attention, aligning perfectly with a food product. On a business card, used for the bakery’s name and the owner’s title, it felt personal and approachable. I also placed it in a website header mockup and a social media layout announcing a new seasonal menu. In these digital spaces, its friendly curvature stood out against clean backgrounds, creating strong visual interest and engagement.

However, a practical observation emerged. When I tried using it for longer body text—like a paragraph about the bakery’s history on the website—readability suffered. The charming details and connected letters, while beautiful, need space to breathe. This isn’t a criticism, but a crucial design note. Like Magic excels as a primary display element, not for dense paragraphs. For menus, short quotes, or product descriptions, it can work if the text is brief and sized appropriately.

Where It Shines and Where to Be Cautious

This font is ideal for projects that prioritize personality and a handmade aesthetic. Think boutique identities, creative studio logos, café branding, skincare or candle labels, wedding invites, and craft-related social media graphics. For any entrepreneur or designer wanting to convey warmth, creativity, and a personal touch, Like Magic is a compelling tool.

Its suitability for Cricut and other craft projects is clear—the single-line, connected script style is perfect for cutting machines, making it a versatile choice for physical crafts and digital design alike.

Projects that require high readability at small sizes, formal corporate communication, or extensive long-form text (like a book or lengthy report) would not be the best fit. The font’s strength is in its decorative, mood-setting quality.

Practical Pairing and Licensing Advice

For a balanced brand system, pair Like Magic with a simple, neutral typeface. A geometric sans-serif or a classic serif for body text creates a harmonious hierarchy. The script brings the flair, the supporting font ensures clarity. This combo is professional yet distinctive.

Before committing it to final client work, test it thoroughly. Render it in your actual mockups at the sizes you’ll use. Print a sample business card or label proof to see how the lines translate to physical media. Check how it appears on mobile screens in your web header mockup.

A final, essential note: always review the commercial font licensing terms. Ensure your use—whether for a client’s permanent brand identity, packaging, merchandise, or digital products—is covered. Understanding the license protects you and your client and allows you to use tools like Like Magic confidently in commercial projects.

A Font That Adds a Personal Touch

Working with Like Magic felt like adding a signature to the brand. It provided that intangible ‘human’ element that so many modern brands seek. It’s not just a font file; it’s a design asset that injects warmth and character into logos, packaging, and digital touchpoints. For designers, crafters, and business owners looking for a charming cursive font that feels genuine and not overly digitized, this typeface delivers a touch of, well, magic.
